What inspired your passion for interior design?

Everything from the childhood bedroom my mother designed for me to Kelly Hoppen’s book, “The Golden Rules of Design” (which was like my bible), to old school HGTV shows.

Who are you influenced by?

Kelly Hoppen is my number one design influence, but my mother is a close second. She has exquisite taste.

What are the most important decorative elements in your home?

Double height ceilings are a must for me, and my chandelier and floor to ceiling drapes accentuate this dramatic feature. I also love my signature Kagan sofa which really makes a statement.

“Add at least one quirky, personal element in every room to keep it from feeling like a furniture show room.”

What are your three most important elements when designing a bedroom/room?

Palette, texture, comfort and lighting. All of these elements are at play in the stunning master bedroom at The Woolworth Tower Residences. We kept the palette neutral and used a custom, textured headboard to add grandeur to the room while soft lighting and a cozy seating area create comfort.

From your experience, what is the best decorating advice you can offer someone?

1. Paint is more important than you think.
2. A sculptural lighting fixture finishes any room.
3. Add at least one quirky, personal element in every room to keep it from feeling like a furniture show room.

What upcoming projects are you looking forward to?

We’re working on an amazing penthouse at One West End Ave and we’ve just begun another mansion in Miami.

Why is the spring or summer a great time to refresh one's home?

Spring and summer are the seasons of renewal, but I’ll take any excuse to refresh, declutter or edit my home.

What are your "Frette Favourites"?

I’m obsessed with the Gold Cross Fox Throw. Throws add instant glamour and texture to a room and we love using them to add drama in a master bedroom.

Where do you go for design inspiration in New York?

I love watching Breakfast at Tiffany’s. It’s one of those classic, NYC films that inspires me every time I watch.

What is on your nightstand?

Just a Jonathan Adler, horse-shaped bowl filled with small bottles of water and sculptural table lamp.
