Portrait Milano

What draws visitors to Milan?

Famed for its art, history, architecture, food and fashion, Milan stands as the heartbeat of Italy. Discerning travellers worldwide come for cultural immersion and to experience the finest there is across the realms of hospitality, design, history and cuisine. It’s a city with something for everyone. Portrait Milano hotel overlooks the city’s newest see-and-be-seen destination, the Piazza del Quadrilatero, which, at 32,000 square feet, is the largest public square in the fashion district.

What was Portrait Milano’s design inspiration and how does it influence guest experience?

The hotel is housed within the former Archiepiscopal Seminary, a masterpiece of Lombard Baroque from 1565 and one of the oldest seminaries in Europe and the world. With the space’s transformation from historic landmark to distinguished hub of hospitality, entertainment and culture, traditional elements were preserved to pay homage to the property’s remarkable past whilst ushering the hotel into a contemporary era. True classic Italian design, meticulous attention to detail, sumptuous materials and the perfect interplay between texture and colour palette inspired Portrait Milano’s design, offering guests a quintessential Italian hospitality experience.

What is one thing guests will experience only at Portrait Milano?

Unique to Portrait Milano is the ability to provide guests an oasis of intimacy, tranquillity and timeless elegance just steps away from the most prestigious shopping addresses in town.

Turning to the guest rooms, how does Portrait Milano deliver an element of comfort and familiarity whilst remaining true to the hotel’s experience at large?

The hotel’s 73 suites pair the rich tradition of Milanese living with a decidedly contemporary aesthetic. Thanks to the generous walk-in closets, living rooms with a conversation corner and in some cases a stylish collection of art and lifestyle books, the atmosphere harks back to the stately mansions of Milan’s past.

Which of Portrait Milano’s services can’t be missed?

The hotel will be opening The Longevity Suite in 2023, which is the most advanced European Biohacking & Antiaging City Clinic. Striving to guide guests to be the best versions of themselves, the Suite offers a holistic approach to health and wellness, incorporating new-age technology to find the perfect balance between beauty and mental energy. It’s a must-visit not only for its array of treatments and tailor-made fitness programs, but also for its pool, which is housed beneath the property’s ancient vaults.

How does Frette fit into guest experience at Portrait Milano? What makes our two brands such a natural fit?

We turned to Frette to craft the linens for the hotel to reflect the property’s overarching marriage of heritage and modernity. Frette has more than 160 years of Italian craftsmanship expertise and was able to create linens of exceptional quality that were also imbued with the personality of the property. Custom linens are steeped in tradition, defined by a pristine white palette and distinguished with exceptional embroidery, including touches of classic red and green as nods to the property’s storied past.
