Nestled in the tranquil farmlands of Amagansett, a charming oceanfront hamlet, The Roundtree, Amagansett is an inviting, calming oasis in the heart of The Hamptons.

Here, General Manager Boby Haryadi shares how the design embodies the legacy of the centuries-old property, suggestions if you’re looking to experience The Hamptons like a local and the souvenir you shouldn’t leave for home without.

"Throughout the entire hotel, from the Main House to each guestroom and cottage, you’ll find unique artwork and pieces collected by travels around the world. We bring a global experience to The Hamptons through this artwork and no two rooms are alike when it comes to the pieces you’ll find within. "

Can you tell us about the design of The Roundtree, Amagansett?

Our vision for The Roundtree, Amagansett was to make each guest’s stay feel as if they are visiting their second home out East. We wanted a calming and serene minimalistic approach taken to the interior design.

Every room has been renovated with design details that embody the legacy of our historic property but updated with contemporary touches. The property sits on the land founded by one of The Hamptons’ original homesteading families, so the meticulous renovation to the 250-year-old original barn and more recent structures has united these historic touches with modern design details seamlessly. One, two, and three-bedroom accommodations set in private cottages feature large living spaces, inviting family and friends to gather.

What are three fascinating things about the property that set it apart from other hotels?

  1. The Roundtree, Amagansett is nestled on two acres of lush land, with only 15 rooms in total, five of which are private cottages. Our guests genuinely feel as if they are staying at their second home with this intimacy and privacy - but with the hospitality and service of a luxury hotel.

  2. The property has a long farmsteading history dating back to the 1700s, while a few structures have stood for centuries. One of our five cottages dates back 250-years, while a 100-year-old historic barn now houses a combination of guestrooms and suites.

  3. We take great pride in our family-friendly programming, especially our Lemonade Stand. It was created with the intention of encouraging children to sharpen their entrepreneurial skills in an effort to make a difference and raise money for a charity of their choice. We provide the supplies and stand perfectly situated along Main Street - the rest is up to them!

Can you share what you consider to be the most unique design feature of the property?

What design touches does The Roundtree, Amagansett bring into rooms and suites to make them feel like someone’s home-away-from-home?

The newly renovated spaces provide a serene and polished atmosphere with design touches that reflect a calming sense of home. Wide plank hardwood floors pave the way to a refined space, while furnishings in whites and natural wood hues evoke a sense of tranquility. Each of our modern bathrooms follow suit with European vanities and walk-in showers with rain showerheads. In-room, you’ll also find a minibar stocked with complimentary snacks and beverages, Frette linens of course, and Grown Alchemist bath products, all to further elevate that feeling of home.

Can you share the most distinctive experience the team has designed for a guest?

We opened the hotel during the height of the pandemic, so we had to take a completely new approach to hospitality and luxury service. From arranging groceries to be in-room upon arrival to incredible private chef dinners when nearby restaurants were closed, we provided the same genuine hospitality guests would expect when staying at The Roundtree, Amagansett in a completely new way.

If a guest wanted to experience The Hamptons like a local, what are three things that should be on their to-do list?

  1. Grab a coffee from Jack’s Stir Brew to start your morning, and head to one of our beautiful beaches such as Indian Wells with your pup for early hours when dogs are allowed!

  2. Eat at one of the many amazing restaurants throughout The Hamptons - or choose to take it to-go, and we’ll arrange for a beautiful setting in your cottage or the lawn at The Roundtree, Amagansett to enjoy the meal.

  3. Stay out east during the winter season - the weekenders have all gone back to the city until the summer comes again and there is an intimate and cosy atmosphere in the destination.

Can you share 3 to 5 off-the-beaten-path recommendations for spots to eat or drink in The Hamptons?

A few local favorites include Nick & Toni’s, Almond and Wölffer Kitchen.

If you had to bring home one souvenir from The Hamptons, what would that be?

A fresh bouquet of flowers or produce from Amber Waves Farmer’s Market.

What inspires you to travel?
